My Brave & Amazing Wife
Sharon had the first dose of the new course of chemotherapy today. As this particular drug involves a risk of hair loss, she was given the option of facing her old nemesis.......
She took the decision to give it a go, despite very painful memories of wearing this ice cap a few years ago during her initial chemo treatment.
As a helpless observer, I'm absolutely in awe of anyone who can tolerate this pain whilst simultaneously receiving a drug into your body which is powerful in it's own right.
Following the completion of the chemo drip, the cap was to remain in place for a further hour. Unfortunately, Sharon's core body temperature dropped quite a bit and a decision was made to switch the cooling machine off 30 minutes before completion. Thankfully, she picked up again but it gave us both a bit of a fright. Happy to report, she is absolutely right as rain again now. As always, we are grateful to the incredible nurses who look after her and certainly earned their money today.
No update as yet on the neck scan and we await a call from the hospital in the coming days.
Thank You again to everyone who has read this out of concern, or sent texts or prayed.

Wow what a team you two make. May God bless, encourage and strengthen you both as this new phase in your journey commences. Praying constantly. Big hugs from us all.
ReplyDeleteThinking and praying for you as you had this day. MCC remembered you too last night.Trust the ice cap may have done its job even though you had to stop a little early. I am sure that was not the nicest of experiences.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave for keeping us informed. may God give you both His blessing as you continue on this journey together.
Much love to you both Ruth and Gordon.
